Thank you, Automattic

I had a splendid 8.5 years with you, Automattic, and my extraordinary ex-colleagues, Automatticians! It’s been a good two months plus since I was let go with 16% of the workforce. The exit was rather abrupt and shook my trust deeply, since it seemed contrary to what I had come to believe in while working at the great organization. The automated exit was done in a way which was only characteristic of Amazon, Google and Metas of the world. I had never imagined it would happen at A8c, but it is what it is and I trust there were good reasons to do this.

Enough of venting 😀 – There are reasons to feel sad, but I do have far more reasons to be grateful for the outstanding people I got to work with during my time there! I remain in touch with a lot of them, and they are a part of my circle! You are the reason for how I have grown since 201 7, to a place where I can build better on my own and guide others too.

During my time at Automattic, I had the best growth in my career as a support professional, and further, as a developer. I am grateful to Automattic for offering me the developer apprenticeship through which I trained and grew beside the finest minds, and kindest colleagues. I wish I could get some more time and experience as a developer, but I think I have a good head start! All this would not have been possible without my colleagues then, including my immediate team members, and leads. I had some of the finest ears to listen to me and guide me with the best course of action. I sorely miss that on a day-to-day work basis!

I wish you all the very best, and I will not say good bye!
